Day 28: Stories Are Key

Day 28 of 30. What’s up everybody, I hope that this little post finds you well and safe with your family. We’re talking about quarantine and covid and what you can be doing for your marketing in the middle of all of it.

I want to encourage you to take some time and build stories. You have been in business for a while, so you’ve collected interactions with your customers, you’ve collected interactions with your bosses and with your staff, you have lived life and you have experienced many things. That is true.

Maybe today, maybe this afternoon, maybe in the morning, write down five stories that clearly articulate something about your brand values or how the customer journey should be. Or, write down a story about your favorite client and maybe what you did for them. But in all of this, in this moment of quarantine where people are spending a lot of time on zoom and we’re upping our meetings and spending just time trying to be coordinated, I wanted to encourage you that people are hungrier than ever for a story. Stories have this beautiful, amazing ability to explain in a nice tight package four or five different giant ideas and ideals. The power of stories can’t be underestimated, and so I wanted to tell you to take 10 minutes and just write down the titles of three stories to remind yourself. Start practicing those, and you’ll thank me later.
